The Water Horse – Legend of the Deep DVD

The Water Horse - Legend of the Deep (Two-Disc Special Edition)

Based on a novel by Dick King-Smith, author of The Sheep Pig (from which Babe was adapted), the touching and often spectacular The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
ingeniously presumes to explain the truth behind “Nessie,” i.e., the
Loch Ness Monster. The story, told in present day to a couple of
American tourists by a kindly gentleman (Brian Cox) in a pub, begins
with a lonely boy, Angus (Alex Etel), pining for his father, who is
serving in the Royal Navy during World War II. Angus, along with his
sister (Priyanka Xi) and mother (Emily Watson), live on an estate that
has been billeted by soldiers in the Scottish Highlands, near Loch
Ness. The troop’s commander (David Morissey) has an eye for mom,
suspicions about a mysterious handyman, Lewis (Ben Chaplin), who is
also a war hero, and an absurd contention that the Highlands are the
real frontline in the war against Germany.

The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith

The Water Horse

Set in the 1930s, this story tells of a young Scottish girl, Kirstie,
and her brother, Angus, who find a mysterious egg capsule washed up on
shore after a storm and take it home. To their delight, this “mermaid’s
purse” hatches into a lovable sea monster they call Crusoe. It keeps
growing and growing, until finally it is too big to live anywhere but
in nearby Loch Ness. Children who enjoy animal stories will welcome one
about this unusual creature. The characters are believable and, since
King-Smith relates events from the point of view of the water horse as
well as those of Kirstie and her family, readers get to know the
friendly, not-at-all-fearsome monster. Occasional black-and-white
illustrations effectively complement the text. Crusoe is bound to make
a splash with children everywhere.

Another post from Charlie

Hello All,
I have been getting a lot of emails from you all regarding Champ Hunting Tours on Lake Champlain. I am planning on partnering with one of the Burlington-based cruise companies this summer and will have more info for you in the coming weeks. I am too busy looking for Champ to guide the tours myself, but am planning to provide literature and other resources to passengers so that they will know where and how to look for Champ during the cruises.

See you on/in the water,
Charlie

A note from Charlie…

Hello all,
Thanks for visiting my new and improved site. I have done an extensive redesign in the last couple weeks in order to make Champmonster.com more interactive for all of you, and to make it easier for myself to post on the fly. Right now I am working on re-posting all the information that I had on the old site along with a lot of new content. Expect a lot of these posts to be relatively brief, my main priority is just getting it all categorized with a link to the source in each post. Once I have caught up on all that, you can expect me to start making longer posts like this one and making better comments on the articles.

In other news, I have acquired a small Champ research vessel (aka boat) and am working on getting it in the water. Expect to see me trolling around the lake this summer with sonar unit in tow. I guess that is all for now, feel free to send me any feedback that you may have on the new site format.

Keep searching,
Charlie

Creature washes up on shore of China

Here is a photo of a large unidentified creature that washed up on the shore of China. Why haven’t we recovered a Champ corpse? I suppose if Champ lives and dies in the deeper part of the lake, the bodies would probably sink. With a lack of tides or significant flow there are not many forces that would cause a large body to wash up on the shore.
